Good afternoon!
So many times in my life I have to deal with gift packaging problems especially when the present is small and it too hard to find a box that would be cute and for a decent price. No I am not cheap on presents but buying a cardboard that is usually not pretty at all is a waste. I found this cute DIY for a wooden boxes which will be great for a gift box as well as for your own jewelry boxes or as a storage for other small things. And those look much better than the boxes from the store.
Here is what you will need:
- Small Wooden Boxes
- 40mm Wooden Beads
- Sugru Create and Craft Kit
- Spray Paint
- Sandpaper
Step 1
Prepare your workspace and set up some good music or your favorite movie.
Step 2
Sand down the corners on the lid of your box. This gives them a more cohesive look with the sphere balancing on top.
Step 3
Open up the packet of Sugru, break a little of and plug the hole on one side of the bead. Smooth it over with your finger.
Step 4
If you’re spraying the whole box the same color cover the other hole with a pea sized piece of Sugru and press down onto the box. Leave this overnight to set in place.
Step 5
Spray several light layers of paint onto the box waiting for each coat to dry before the next. Use a fine sandpaper to keep the paint even between coats.
If you want the ball to be a different color than the box spray these both separately before using the Sugru to adhere them together. Once dry, spray a pool of paint onto a scrap piece of paper (keeping the surrounding area protected) and use a toothpick to paint onto the exposed area.
Voila! Aren’t they cute? I was very inspired by this tutorial. It is very easy to do and the result is amazing. I made a few of them and I got one for my mother and my grandmother, one for my sister and one for myself. And we all are enjoying those boxes so much! Thanks!
