Hello!
I used to love those “Best Friends” pendants when I was little and I was so proud that I owe one. Nowadays I have a little sister who is now obsessed with them as well. Once we was in the jewelry store and wanted to get them so bad but to be honest those pendants were highly overpriced. She got super upset when parents refused to buy them and then I thought that we could make them at home. My sister got super exited and we bought all the supplies we needed and started to make our pendants.
MATERIALS
- Best friend pendant printable
- Shrink plastic sheets
- Scissors
- Hole punch
- Jump rings
- Jewelry pliers
- Chain or cord
Step 1
Print the Best Friend pendant printable onto a shrink plastic sheet. Make sure you use the correct type of printer for your plastic mine was made for an inkjet printer, but you can get sheets for laser printers too or go to the store to print them out. Cut the printed shapes using a thin white or black ‘crack’ running down the center as a guide.
The hearts will look light when first printed, but the colors will darken quite a bit when the pendants are shrunk.
Step 2
Punch a hole in the top of each half-heart with a hole punch. Don’t worry if the hole looks a bit large, it’ll shrink in size along with the rest of the pendant once you bake your plastic.
Step 3
Shrink your best friend pendants following the manufacturer’s instructions. My shrink plastic needed to be laid on top of baking paper and placed in a 150°C oven, but the directions for yours might be different so make sure you check before baking.
Step 4
Once your pendants have shrunk and cooled use a pair of jewelry pliers to insert jump rings through the holes.
Step 5
Feed a chain through each jump ring and your necklaces are ready to hand out to your bestie!
Voila! I hope you are enjoying this pendants as much as my little sister enjoys hers and as much as I enjoy watching her being happy!
