Polymer clay is material, with which one can create amazing sculptures, accessories, craft items, and bouquets.
Phalaenopsis (widely known as moth orchid) is a popular flower made of polymer clay with the help texture molds. Molds are necessary to create realistic petal texture. If you don’t have molds, you can also make an orchid, but the petals will be smooth, without flower veins and roughness.
You will need the following tools:
Let’s start the job:
Using a stick, roll a small piece of clay, leaving in the middle of a small protrusion, as shown on the photo. Then use a cutter cut the core of the flower in the form of a small cross. This kind of core is called "a lip". If you do not have a cutter, you can draw the core, and then cut it out of clay with a sharp knife. Cut the lower part of this detail with a knife.
Shape the core. To do this, take the workpiece in your hand and gently fold inside the upper part. Using the stack with the round tip fold inside other parts.
Take a small piece of wire and bend one end at an angle of 90 degrees. Glue the core and stick it to the end of the wire. Make the central part of the lip from a small piece of clay. To do this, roll it in the form of an oblong seed and using a knife, make an incision. Then place the seed in the center of the lip, sticking it onto the wire.
To make it look more realistic, paint the lip of the flower.
Now let’s make petals. To do this, roll a lump of clay with a small protrusion as shown in the photo. Place it on the mold, press and cut off unnecessary parts. Attach wire to the base of the petal.
Repeat previous steps to make other petals: you should make five of them. Paint each petal in small dots. Collect all the petals together, add the core.
As a result, you should receive such a flower:
