In this article, we'll show you how to make a raised garden bed with your own hands.
Materials and tools for making a raised garden bed:
Decide on the size of your bed. In our case the size of the bed is 1,6×1 m. Use the ruler and pencil to mark the place of the sawing of chipboards.
Saw the chipboards along the layout lines. For each wall of the raised bed you will need 2 chipboards.
From the chipboard section 50 × 100 mm we need to manufacture corner posts. Their height depends on the width of the chipboards. We have used the chipboards 150 mm wide, therefore the height of the posts should be 300 mm.
Along marking lines saw the chipboards by a circular saw. Screw the side plank to the post.
A piece of advice: frame assembly is best carried on a firm, level surface.
Then fix the next plank, so that the walls of the bed are fixed on a right angle. The details can be fixed by ordinary screws on wood.
Likewise, fix two more chipboards to have a rectangular frame.
Now on each wall we fix another plank.
A piece of advice: if you want a raised garden bed to look original, the chipboards can be arranged in a checkerboard pattern.
Now you need to set the upper shelves. They can be sawn at 45 degrees, but there is even an easier way. Fix the two longitudinal shelves, and very close to them the transverse ones. The length of the chipboards for the shelves depends on the length of the bed walls.
Fix the shelves with screws. If you want to simplify the task, a bed can be left without shelves. The frame for making a raised garden bed is ready. It remains to put it in a suitable place and fill with soil.
