How To Cook Rice Pudding

Rice pudding is cooked in many parts of the world. However, the recipe may differ from case to case, even if there is a rice pudding being cooked in one and the same country. There are 2 ways to cook a rice pudding: you may either boil it or bake it. We think that in both cases there is the same result – you get a tender and light dessert. It is only about a different amount of time required to cook it.

Rice pudding may be cooked on milk that may have different amount of fat in it. You may even cook it on cream. The amount of fat defines how rich and various the taste will be. A standard variant of pudding is vanilla rice with raisins. However, you may feel free to use your fantasy and add various species of fruits to it.

Ingredients:

  • Ground cinnamon – 1 teaspoon;
  • Milk – 600 ml;
  • Long-grain rice – 65 g;
  • Sugar – 50 g;
  • Salt – 1 thimbleful.

The Process Of Cooking

Step 1. In order to cook rice you’ll need sugar, salt, cinnamon and full-cream milk.

Step 2. Wash the rice with cold water. Pour milk, add salt (this way the milk won’t boil over). Wait till rice boils (the fire under it should be high). Add sugar and vanilla. Turn fire down and boil it for 25 minutes. You need to constantly mix the rice. This way it won’t burn slightly.

Step 3. The rice’s consistence should become cream-like.

Step 4. Pour the pudding into a small flat container and put it into the oven for 30 minutes. The temperature should be 150 oC.

Step 5. You may turn on a “grill” mode once there are the last 5 minutes left. This way you’ll get a crust on the pudding. Only don’t get to far with it! Your rice pudding is ready!
