Crochet Baby Blanket

if you have already learned the basics of handwork, then, you may, for sure, start crocheting a unique two-sided plaid. Of course, the scheme for crocheting it is rather complicated. However, a step-by-step instruction will help you create not only a soft and warm plaid, but also a real crochet masterpiece for your baby without any serious efforts.

Necessary materials:

  • yarn of different colours or a monochromic one;
  • crochet №2, 5 or №3.

Resources:

You need to make so many stitches that the number of them can be divided in 8. You may make a chain consisting of 48 or 64 stitches.

Crochet 2 chain stitches, the next 3 chain stitches are crocheted with the help of a double crochet. The next stitch is missed.

Then, you need to crochet 7 stitches and 7 double crochets. Miss one stitch and form a chain stitch. Crochet the following 7 ones with double crochets.

Go on crocheting like this till the end of the row.

Crochet the next row according to the following scheme: 2 turning chain stitches, , miss one loop, crochet a double crochet into the next loop, crochet 1 chain stitch, crochet 1 double crochet in the following loop, crochet a chain stitch, then, crochet 3 double crochets. Go on crocheting like this till the end of the row.

Crochet the third row according to the following scheme: 2 turning chain stitches, a double crochet, 1 chain stitch, a double crochet in the first loop of the previous row. Stick to such a pattern till the end of the row. The crochets of the 3rd row should be strictly located over the previous ones.

Crochet the following 4 rows using a thread of a different colour.

You start crocheting the leaves in the 4th row. This row is the most difficult. Crochet it according to the following scheme: 2 chain stitches, 3 double crochets in the loops of the previous row. There should be a triangle created out of the yarn.

Pull the thread out of the first “cell” in the third row and put yarn over on the crochet. You need to crochet a half of the pulled out loop in order to fix it. Pull a thread out of the same “cell”. All pulled out threads should be of equal length.

Crocheting of a baby blanket: schemes. Do the same thing with the created “cells” in the 2nd and the 1st row and, then, in the 2nd and the 3rd row. You should definitely have a leaf as a result.

In order to fix the base of the crocheted leaf you need to carefully get the thread through all the pulled out loops.

You need to necessarily crochet 3 double crochets in the loops of the previous row in the spaces between the leaves. Crochet the next 3 rows the way you crocheted the first 3 rows. Then, form the leaves.

Crochet according to the given scheme. Repeat it in every 4 rows and keep on crocheting until the blanket gets to the necessary length.

An approximate scheme for crocheting leaves on the blanket looks the following way.
