Barley porridge has long been known for its beneficial properties: it cleanses the gastro-intestinal tract, lowers cholesterol level, and contains many useful elements. You can cook water porridge during your fasting days. For making barley porridge, first you should soak the groats in water or boil it slightly before cooking.
Ingredients:
Rinse the groats well. Boil 3 cups of water in a saucepan. Put the groats into the water and let it simmer for 7 minutes.
After that, put the groats into the colander and let it drain.
Pour 2 cups of water in the saucepan. When the water starts boiling put in the salt. Put in the prepared groats and cover it with the top. Cook the barley on slow fire until it becomes thick (about 25 minutes).
