How to make ceramic plates

From the first sight, it seems like ceramics are the complicated thing and your products can be messy and sloppy. Today we will highlight the secret of how to create the ideal ceramic blanks for any purpose - even it would plate, or author's tiles in your own bathroom.

First step:

Take a lump of prepared wet clay and roll a thickness about 3 millimeters using a roller or a special rolling pin. This will be your workpiece.

The second step:

To simplify your further work, prepare in advance several plaster molds of different shapes to dry your clay.

Ideally, if you will have round and square shapes in several most typical sizes.

Important: the surface of gypsum blocks should be as smooth as possible so that the final product does not leave scars after drying.

The third step:

Take a thinly rolled out layer of clay and allocate it on the surface of your gypsum blank, gently pressing the edges along the entire perimeter.

Delete the unnecessary pieces of clay mass. You need to be sure that all edges match as tightly as possible to the shape. During the process, you'll understand when you should moisten the fingers with water. Your main goal is the clay should accurately repeat the shape of the gypsum plate. After you'll make sure that the clay lies perfectly - let it freeze.

The fourth step:

Carefully remove the dried clay and repeat the mass applying as many times as you need for the final product.

After you will make the required amount of clay templates, send them for firing, and then for subsequent staining and glazing.

This way of artisanal stamping will save you from imminent defect, which usually happens if you do everything manually and by eye.

Using such way of molding, you can easily make Chinese plates of square shape, flat dishes, and ceramic tiles. Each of your products can be used for design, and for technical needs.
