15 Mailbox Ideas for kids

For those who appreciate handwritten letters and messages, here are 15 mailbox ideas to implement with a child

Valentine’s Day mailbox craft

  1. Convert an old lunchbox into the lovely mailbox by making the rectangular hole for the letters in the upper part. Decorate it with glitter, colorful paper, hearts, or any other nice pattern.

  2. Take a shoebox, wrap it with some bright paper or canvas, cut the doors for the letters, and make an angular roof on the top. Tie some colorful ribbons, red bows, and glue several hearts.

  3. Take a sheet of cardboard (24*10cm), paint it, and fold two edges (1cm each). Take another cardboard, divide it into three equal parts (10cm each). Glue the first element to the middle part (use the folded edges) to get a semi-oval top. Fold one side part and draw a semi-oval on it; remove the excess material and join the side to the top. Repeat the same with the second side but leave it unglued (door). Tie the mailbox with the ribbon to close the door.

  4. Decorate a cardboard tube with a heart pattern and hang it up to the shelf or any other snag.

  5. Make a heart-shaped box; leave one side unglued to use it as the door. Add a loop on the door and a button on the side to close the door.

  6. Multiple DIY cardboard mailboxes
    1. Take several toilet paper rolls, glue them together in the shape of the cells. Tie it with the nice ribbon, make the big bow on the top and decorate the mailboxes.
    2. Glue together several milk cardboards, make the doors for the letters on the front parts, add some bright decoration, and the names of the recipients above each mail door.
    3. Take seven cardboard boxes, decorate each of them differently, and write the days of the week on each of them. Thus, the child will have his/her mail organized.
    4. Figurine mailboxes
      1. Convert any cardboard box into the Minion with the hole for the letters instead of the mouth. Do not forget to add the big eyes and blue jeans.
      2. Paint the cardboard box in a grey color, glue the big ears, long trunk, small tail, and join four strong cardboard legs. Make a letter-door on the side of the elephant.
      3. Decorate the cardboard box as a car, add four wheels, and the door to put the letters inside the box.
      4. Paint the monster face on the box, glue the tail, two clawed arms, and make the hole for the letters inside the monster mouth.
      5. Outdoor mailboxes
        1. Take a plastic box, make the door for the letters on the front side, and write the name with the colorful glue gun on the side of the mailbox. Decorate it and hang on the front door or tree.
        2. Transform an old tank into the pretty mailbox by painting it, making the door on the side, adding legs, and placing it on the lawn in front of the house.
        3. Make the big egg by using a balloon and a glue gun. Paint it and make a hole for the letters. Put it in the nest made from an old tire and a bunch of tree branches.
