About Sierra Barnes If you want it one hundred percent real then you will love the artwork of Sierra Barnes. She is a self-taught artist born and raised in Dallas, Tx. In 2002 she was diagnosed with craniopharyngioma (brain tumor). This and other obstacles and challenges have not stopped her from pursuing her love and passion for art. Instead, it has inspired her and motivated her as and artist as well as a person. She is also a writer and with every piece of art, she creates she writes a poem to go along with it that comes handwritten by her on the back of each piece. Artist Statement I put my heart and soul into my art. I want to help and inspire others through my art and poetry. I believe art can heal. It has helped me through difficult times in my life. I want to turn all that I’ve been through into something beautiful. When I am creating it takes me to another place almost like a meditative state. I mostly work with acrylic paint and different textures. I feel there're a few different sides to my art. I don’t limit myself to just one. Sometimes the painting inspires the poem and other times the poem inspires the painting. Many things influence my art and poetry but my daily life, things I observe, and things I’ve been through are just a few. I am an artist and a writer trying to create in a world full of chaos.
