Beads

I was traveling with my partner and our son to Alausi in Ecuador. In this city there is a train that gives tourists a ride to a location and back. We wanted to take the train to see what all the hubbub was about. The train ride was okay, but the town itself was more interesting. The town is absolutely charming. Very clean, tidy and has vending machines there to feed the street dogs. It also has a huge mosaic tiled sculpture of a Saint that is stunning. Market day, is a perfect opportunity to buy food for breakfast and lunch on the train. As we went through the market, purchasing the fresh produce and enjoying the bustle and business, there was this amazing woman sitting with her friends chatting, cleaning and displaying their vegetables for sale. The sun was strong and warm. Even though I was hot, she was happily sitting with her hat, warm sweater and skirts and of course her jewellery. Even when she was working, she was still wearing her beautiful beads and costume of her culture. I would have loved to have heard what these ladies were all chatting about. There were so many people in the streets of this town on market day. Town was full of fanfare. This town comes alive on market day bringing all the farmers from the surrounding areas, to sell their produce and catch up on all the gossip for the week , all of them proudly wearing the clothes of their culture.
